We've driven by this joint for years- and finally pulled in to try it out...Delicious!
The Vietnamese egg rolls are very different/better than what you are used to! Crispy/meaty/fantastic. I had wonton soup with 4 large Noodles and very tasty broth. I ordered Pad Kao Pao with beef. It comes with rice and heat level 1-5. I stepped up to a "4"....and our waiter wisely suggested "3". Great call! Delicious meal served with mushrooms, carrots, basil and snow peas & topped with a fried egg!!My wife had Phö and has more to take home! We'll be back! -

We like to come here to get Pho and Vietnamese sandwiches. Considering my GF is Vietnamese and we both love Vietnamese food, you can safely assume that we frequently visit this type of restaurants.
This place looks like most small Asian restaurants. Kind of ugly, with terrible bathroom, meaning the food is probably pretty good, which it is.
The Pho is great most of the time, but a miss on rare occasion. Other soups and solid foods are good but nothing special. Where this place really shines is their sandwiches. It is hands down the best Vietnamese sandwich place in Iowa or best I've had anywhere including big cities. Their bread is warm and crispy. The vegetables inside are fresh and crunchy with just the right amount of sauce. And then the meat, and especially the roasted pork is absolutely amazing. And the best part is these sandwiches are $3. These sandwiches would be $9 at a normal restaurant because they are that well made. It's an absolute steal. We driving from Waukee, which is 20-25 min away just to get sandwiches to go. And we eat them in the car while making moaning noises like we are having the best food sex of our lives.
If I was to rate this place on sandwiches alone, I would easily give it full 5 stars. But all the other food is just good and nothing special so I have to go with 4. In either case, you will enjoy your meal at this little hole in the wall. -

We had a very, very bad experience here. The cleanliness of the establishment was the issue, not the food. We used to love going to this place until this happened. Just make sure you check your surroundings.
Also, it was the way the management or employee handled the situation that was also appalling. Will not go back unless we know there's either new owners or a complete overhaul of the establishment and a thorough cleaning and inspection. -

Recommend this place! What I really like are their home style and speciality dishes. Went today and had a lovely meal with shrimp cream cheese rolls, spring rolls and banh Trang tron (rice paper salad) service is nice and you get a good amount for your money. Would recommend!

Have been to TNT a few times and have not been disappointed as of yet. They are the only restaurant in Des Moines that I know of that serves traditional braised pork and egg stew dish (#119 on the menu). Everything is reasonably priced so you can definitely get a good meal on the cheap here. The bahn mi sandwich was only $2.99, for example, which is the cheapest I've seen it anywhere. Spring rolls here are good as well. Very nice staff. Hole-in-the-wall type of restaurant so cleanliness can seem a little questionable. But don't let looks fool you, this place is a great option for authentic Vietnamese food.
